General Elections 2024: Shifted residence? How to apply for correction of Voter ID in case of address change

The Lok Sabha General Elections of 2024 are scheduled to take place in seven parts starting on April 19. Among its many uses, a voter ID card serves as an important official document that may be used to verify your identity, residence, date of birth, and more. And since your voter card is an official document, you must also update it if you have changed your address of residence.

 






How to apply for correction of Voter ID in case of address change?

Here is a look at how to make a correction in your Voter ID in case of address change, as per the government’s Voters’ Service Portal.

Ø Visit the National Voters Services Portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in/ and registering (By using your mobile number).

Ø Click on Form 8 'Shifting of residence/correction of entries in existing electoral roll/replacement of EPIC/marking of PwD'.

Ø Select the option ‘Self’ and click ‘Submit’.

Ø Select the option such as ‘Shifting of Residence’, ‘Within Assembly Constituency’ and click ‘Ok’.

Ø Click "Next" after selecting your "State, District, and Assembly/Parliamentary Constituency."

Ø Enter your Aadhaar number, email and mobile number.

Ø Enter the address and the supporting documents required for the address change.

Ø Before submitting the form, double-check all of the information. Your new address, attach a document, and attach any other necessary papers.

Ø Tick the declaration and click ‘Submit.’
